St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo joins the country as it celebrates the National Kidney Month. As kidney diseases have been among the leading causes of deaths in the Philippines, back in 1993, then President Fidel V. Ramos issued a Presidential Decree on May 31 of the same year, declaring June of every year as National Kidney Month and since then, the Department of Health (DoH) and the National Kidney Institute (NKI) have led the yearly observance of this event. In line with this declaration, St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo, the 1st hospital with kidney transplant facility outside Metro Manila and the leading healthcare center in Western Visayas, will be holding an event on June 25,2010 to talk about how “healthy kidneys” could lead to a “healthy family”.
